During its cool season, from November 29 to February 6, the temperature varies between 22 ° C maximum and 5 ° C minimum.

Fiesta City

San Miguel de Allente is also known as the “Fiesta City” because it has an extensive calendar of cultural and religious activities, as well as numerous international festivals.

In the month of June you can enjoy the Fiesta de los Locos, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Dozens of people come to the streets to participate in a caravan full of enjoyment and many sweets. With peculiar outfits and inspired by characters ranging from Hollywood superheroes to political figures, this party is one of the best experiences within the city.

The Parroquia

The Parroquia is the emblem of San Miguel and one of the most photographed churches in Mexico. Lit up at night this spectacular, Gaudi-inspired sight dominates the centre of the city. Pay attention when the bells ring or whenever a wedding takes place: La Parroquia appears even more imposing and awe-inspiring.

Mercado de las Artesanías

This beautiful local market offers great shopping with Mexican handcrafts at good prices. Mercado de Artesanias is ideal to find a small gift or an authentic and creative souvenir.

“La Esquina” (Museum Toy)

Childhood amusement is on display at La Esquina Toy Museum, where the collection includes more than 1,000 handcrafted toys. The popular museum was dreamed up by San Miguel resident Angelica Tijerina when he began collecting trinkets and playthings that his father brought home from travels around the country.

Cañada de la Virgen

This fascinating archeological site provides valuable information about how the Otomi people lived in the area during the pre-Hispanic era. Cañada de la Virgen is a relatively new site, discovered in the middle of a privately owned hacienda in 1998, with public access granted in 2011. Visiting the site involves some walking but the phenomenal structures will compensate you for it.

Fábrica La Aurora

Fabrica La Aurora is the first place to look at if you are interested in art. This fascinating art space is ideal if you want to purchase art, browse the artwork or simply enjoy a nice cup of coffee and some light lunch in a creative ambience. Apart from paintings and sculpture, there are also glasswork, ceramics and antique furniture for sale.
